North Andover Lacrosse Association Code of Conduct


This Code of Conduct (the “Code”) applies to all players, parents and coaches involved in the North Andover Lacrosse Association (NALAX) program and is in addition to any codes of conduct mandated by US Lacrosse (“USL”), the Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League (“MBYLL”) or the Massachusetts Bay Girls Lacrosse League (“MBGLL”).

Player's Code

·         Play by the rules.

·         Never argue with or complain about the referee calls or decisions.

·         Control your temper and resist the temptation to retaliate if you feel you have been wronged.

·         Cooperate with your coaches, teammates, opponents, and referees in games, practices, and at tournaments and obey the instructions of your coaches and referees.

·         Do not engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct with any umpire, coach, player, parent, or any other person, including booing or taunting, or verbally criticizing umpire calls, coaching decisions, plays in the field or game results, or using any profane, abusive or derogatory language or gestures.

·         Abide by any codes of conduct mandated by USL, MBYLL and/or MBGLL that might apply.

·         ALL PLAYERS AND AT LEAST ONE OF HIS/HER PARENTS OR GUARDIANS MUST SIGN THIS CODE BELOW BEFORE HIS/HER SECOND TEAM PRACTICE.

Parent Conduct

·         Do not engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct with any umpire, coach, player, parent, or any other person, including booing or taunting, or verbally criticizing umpire calls, coaching decisions, plays in the field or game results, or using any profane, abusive or derogatory language or gestures.

·         Do not act like a "coach from the sideline" unless you actually are a coach of the team and limit your comments to encouragement and support for the participants.

·         Ensure that your guests and family members abide by this Code. 

·         Abide by any codes of conduct mandated by USL, MBYLL and/or MBGLL that might apply.

Coach’s code

·         Enthusiastically support and practice "Everyone plays" and extend the positive coaching philosophies of the MBYLL/MBGLL.

·         Be reasonable in terms of your demands on your team members’ time, energy, enthusiasm and on-field performance.

·         Impress upon your players to abide by the rules of the game at all times, abide by the Code and to listen and respect all referees and coaches (even coaches of opposing teams).

·         Never yell at or ridicule a player or referee for making mistakes.

·         Do not engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct with any umpire, other coach, player, parent, or any other person, including booing or taunting, or verbally criticizing umpire calls, coaching decisions, plays in the field or game results, or using any profane, abusive or derogatory language or gestures.

·         Report to the NALAX Board of Directors any player, parent or coach whom you observe violating the Code and/or any code of conduct mandated by USL, the MBYLL and/or the MBGLL.

·         Abide by any codes of conduct mandated by USL, MBYLL and/or MBGLL that might apply.

·         ALL COACHES MUST SIGN THIS CODE BELOW BEFORE HIS/HER SECOND TEAM PRACTICE.

Code Enforcement

·         The NALAX Board of Directors (the “Board”) shall have full and complete discretion to enforce the Code. 

·         The Board may take whatever actions it deems appropriate to investigate any alleged violation of the Code.

·         The Board may implement whatever disciplinary proceedings it deems appropriate under the circumstances. 

·         In the event that the Board determines that a violation of the Code has taken place, it shall have full and complete discretion to determine what disciplinary measures should be taken, including but not limited to, issuing a warning, mandating a suspension or expelling a player without refund of any fees paid or payable, suspending a coach, and/or barring a parent or guardian from attending any NALAX practices, games or tournaments. 

I understand and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and agree to accept any determination that the NALAX Board might make in connection with any alleged violation of this Code by me.  I also understand that my agreement in this regard is a material condition precedent to NALAX permitting me/my child to participate in its programs.
